Historical light railroads in Saxony
Using steam, electricity or engines and mostly running on a 600 mm
gauge, field or light railroads were once found in quarries,
brickworks, gravel pits, for building roads and railroads, and in
forestries and agriculture. The military also used this flexible means
of transport.
The fans of light railroads in Saxony have dedicated themselves to
the preservation of these technical monuments. They transport their
visitors on the field railroads in Upper Lusatia, Saxon Switzerland,
around Leipzig and in Chemnitz.
On open days, industrial culture can be experienced as a fun leisure activity for the whole family.
