Annaberg Model Trains
Another but just as astounding attraction is the Ore
Mountains Model Railroad Park. Here visitors can see a Gauge 1
three-dimensional map of the Ore Mountains around Annaberg-Buchholz,
with all its railroads, big and small, at 1/32 of the original size and
over an area of 8070 sq ft.
In the hall, which is huge for a ‘model train set’, there are about
656 yds of tracks and about 280 switches, up to 20 trains, 200
buildings and an amazing 40,000 trees.
The steam trains are presented realistically on single
track lines – not just in circles – with scheduled runs and everything
as it should be.
