Oschatz - Mügeln - Kemmlitz
Rail with a magnetic attraction
In
the north of Saxony, not far from the city of Leipzig with its trade
fair, a small narrow-gauge railroad runs from the little town of
Oschatz along the Döllnitz River and through the Mügeln region,
stopping at what was once one of the largest narrow-gauge stations in
Europe, in Mügeln. The great marshalling yards of days gone by can
still be admired. And in Saxony’s largest narrow-gauge engine-shed,
visitors can still sense the smell of the legendary IV K steam engine.
On selected weekends and public holidays, the ‘Wild Robert’ sets off on
nostalgic steam journeys along the 11-mile line.
