Home of the Imperial Post Coach
A lot of action for a little village. No wonder, because it is here
that enthusiasts meet each other while delving into the history of the
railroad, in the cab of museum locomotive 99 579 or in front of the
Imperial Post Coach No. 1700 from 1892. All of these and many other
interesting details about the history of the narrow-gauge railroads in
Saxony can be found to the delight of rail fans in the Saxon
Narrow-Gauge Rail Museum in Rittersgrün. The old entrance building of
the terminus station in Oberrittersgrün, the areas outside and the
engine sheds are a magnet for fans from all over the world. Historical
narrow-gauge engines, 29 1/2 inch (750 mm) gauge diesel locomotives, an
automatic model railroad and many contemporary documents provide rail
nostalgia for the aficionado.
